Bio

Lydia was Gloucestershire Young Musician of the Year 2018, winning both the Hewitt-Jones trophy and the Carducci audience prize. She studies the saxophone with Lara James, having previously studied at Gloucestershire Academy of Music under Wes Duggan. Lydia is preparing for her Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music having obtained DipABRSM Distinction on saxophone in 2017. She was a finalist in Gloucestershire Young Musician of the Year 2017, Two Moors Performance Platform 2017, and a National Finalist in the Rotary Young Musician 2015, after winning the Regional Final. She features on the title track of Andrew Heath’s album ‘Evenfall’  and she has really enjoyed playing concertos with several Gloucestershire Orchestras.
Lydia is also an actor-musician having studied acting with the Young Actors’ Studio at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. She has performed at the Cheltenham Music and Literature Festivals, Bath Children’s Literature Festival, Barnes Children’s Literature Festival, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Aberdeen International Youth Festival, The Carducci Festival, Brighton Theatre Royal and as part of the National Trust’s 2018 celebration of women’s suffrage. She was a director at the Young Artists Festival 2019 at The Other Room theatre. Lydia is keen to support young musicians and has run workshops on music and performing to young people across Gloucestershire.
Lydia also plays violin with Gloucestershire Symphony Orchestra, Gloucestershire Youth Chamber Orchestra (Inspire) and the Cantilena Orchestra. Her other interests include Shakespeare, sciences, stage combat, British Sign Language, dance and choreography.
